Diego Vazquez Otero was born in Alpandeire and he tell us about the Castillejo´s Cerro, They are a caves that were ocupated by some men centuries ago. About the presence of the prehistoric man in these earth, they give faith the archaeological findings of Drucks Oaks in the place known like Montero, where they have been found interesting "dólmenes" and other forms of interments of the "católico".

Centuries ago Alpandeire was one of the main strengths of "Ronda", but after their conquest and the expulsion of the moorish, Felipe III had to publish a repoblación decree. 

In the recent history of Alpandeire it emphasizes the figure of "Francisco Tomás de San Juan Márquez Bautista Sánchez", Fray Leopoldo de Alpandeire, he was born on 24th of June of 1864. Who entered in the Capuchino´s Order. 

In 1961, began its process of beatification. Their rest are in the cripta of the Capuchinos´s Church in Granada. He died on 9th of Febrary of 1956.

This town is situated on a height of 695 meters on the level of the sea. This historical Andalusian town counts on an anual average precipitations around 1.181L/m2 with an average temperature of 13.9ºC.

To half of the month of August the supervisory celebrations of San Roque are celebrated and its traditional festive acts in which they do not lack you sing rondeños, serranas and dances of the zone. The Domingo de Resurreccio'n takes place the celebration of the Boy of the Orchard, and in Christmas the celebrations in honor of their son are celebrated illustrates Fray Leopoldo de Alpandeire.

Gastronomy

 

The gastronomy is based on plates like the rabbit to ajillo, the tomato sauce lamb, gazpacho warms up in winter and the cold in summer. Between desserts, it excels repostería that is elaborated artisan for the Easter, like the borrachuelos, pestiños, sighs and the call rosquillón. Other candies are the higos passed to the sun with nuts and orejones.
